Modern Foreign Languages

We offer a variety of Language courses at Bishop Wordsworth’s School, including; French, German, Spanish and Chinese. Since 2019, we have offered a choice of language to GCSE, once pupils have sampled each language in Year 7. We believe that our 3 key curriculum values, Communication, Variety and Motivation underpin the curriculum and our approach to teaching and learning.

In this section, you will find our Schemes of Work for each Key Stage, contact details for each member of staff and the Curriculum Map for each language, so you can see how each topic covered feeds into the next area of the curriculum or the next Key Stage. Underneath, you will find downloadable copies of our KS3 Ability Band Descriptors, Careers Involving Languages and Tips for Written Work, so you can be aware of the linguistic expectations as we work through the Key Stages.
