Welcome!

As a parent/guardian of boys attending the school you are automatically a member of this Association. We are a registered charity (No. 1081166), and our aim is provide a community that supports our Bishop’s Boys.

Our fundraising is becoming increasingly important as school budgets come under ever increasing pressure. By raising money we are able to purchase items for the school that statutory funds are unable to afford. Each year the teaching staff give us a wish list and we try to provide as many items as we can. Our funding decisions are made at our committee meetings, following recommendations from the School’s Resources Committee, and there is no doubt that the work that the parents do makes a fantastic difference to the quality of experience for the boys at Bishop’s.

Our part of the school website is intended to give you a chance see what we do to further enrich the school life of the boys, and we encourage you to get involved with some of our events. Each year we arrange a number of events to raise money, and also some other events whose objective is not primarily fund raising, but to give parents the opportunity to socialise including: Year 7 Skittles Evenings, Quiz Nights, Mothers’ & Sons’ Evenings, visits by the Rain or Shine Theatre Company and Fathers’ & Sons’ Evenings all of which are hugely enjoyable. We aim for all of our events to be that way, whether we are primarily aiming to raise funds or not!

In addition to the events above, our main fundraising events include: A joint Christmas Fair with FOSWGS, Car Parking for Christmas Shoppers, Christmas & Summer Draws and the Founders Day Fete.

The BWSPA Committee meets about 10 times a year during term time and anyone is welcome to attend as and when they can (please see the News & Events section for further details). We appreciate that not everyone can attend these the meetings – we all have busy lives and other commitments - so, we publish the meeting agendas & minutes on the website for everyone to see. Please have a read and let us have your contact details if you feel that you can offer your services in any way, big or small, every offer will be greatly appreciated and we are always looking for help to support the school. No special skills or abilities are needed – just enthusiasm, energy and the desire to do that little bit extra for our boys!

Please do consider joining our committee if you would like to get more involved with our efforts. Our meetings are a good opportunity to hear from the Head Master about what’s going on in school and to plan events. If you would like to know more please contact us at bwspa@bws.wilts.sch.uk for a chat, and any of the committee members will be very happy to tell you more.

An alternative way of getting involved is through your Tutor Group Representative – their contact details are available through a committee member, and you can also follow us on Facebook or via our website at www.bwspa.org.uk
