OVER the last year, no fewer than seven Bishops students have been awarded the prestigious Arkwright scholarship. Excitingly, this is the highest number of Bishops students to be given this opportunity in any one year.
The engineering scholarship is given out annually to those only those who display the most potential in the field of engineering. The subsequent grant can be spent on projects, textbooks or trips, whatever the lucky student chooses.
The application process is very intense. It begins with submitting an application. This is followed by an aptitude test. If all these steps are passed, students will be invited to a twenty-minute interview at Oxford or Cambridge. The few who are picked will be invited to a scholarship acceptance ceremony in London.
The scholarships are highly beneficial: Harvey Thorpe, a current year 12 student, says the following: “The scholarship will help me move forward to university and an engineering career.”
Good luck to everyone involved!
