Pupil Premium When Applying To BWS

Students in receipt of pupil premium are supported to apply to BWS in several ways and BWS is committed to see the proportion of Pupil Premium students increase from its current standing.

Students in receipt of pupil premium:

    • Have free access to Atom Learning to help with preparation for the 11+ examination - see here for more details
    • May be invited to have a year 10 or SF mentor to work through problem solving questions in the Summer Term
    • Receive a modified qualifying standard which is 10% lower than that of non-PP students (from September 2026).

More information on widening access in applications can be found here.

    Support for Pupil Premium Learners

At Bishop Wordsworth’s School, our Pupil Premium provision is led by our Pupil Premium Champion, Mrs Collingridge. Through regular student interviews and questionnaires, alongside ongoing conversations with parents and carers, we work to understand each pupil’s experience fully. This enables us to identify and address any structural barriers that may limit engagement with learning or participation in co-curricular opportunities, ensuring that every student is supported to thrive.
